Montessori school on jamaica pond
Building and landscape are merged through a series of site forces that shape distinct spaces for learning and play. Each classroom subtly flows with the slope of the land and shifts off of one another a few feet in elevation. A gently sloping accessible ramp travels between each space, connecting the entire building together and extending into the landscape of outdoor classrooms. Views and access to each classroom are directed outward adjacent to various exterior facilities that correlate to each age level. Athletic fields, outdoor classrooms, an amphitheater and access to the neighboring pond nestle within various points on the land, linked by the ramp which extends out from the building.
